Members of St. Charles Singers
Eight world-class voices. One canvas. Three nights only.
This March, Rendezvous Arts presents its first-ever vocal ensemble — and it’s a knockout: eight professional singers from the internationally acclaimed St. Charles Singers, led by Music Director Jeff Hunt. These are the voices you also hear on Chicago’s biggest stages—Chicago Symphony Chorus, Grant Park Music Festival Chorus, and Music of the Baroque Chorus—brought into an intimate room where every harmony lands.
The program is a thrill ride of styles: Renaissance madrigals and part-songs, luminous contemporary choral gems, American folk songs, and jazz and pop settings, including multiple works written specifically for the St. Charles Singers (yes, you’ll hear music that was literally created for these artists).
Program (highlights across centuries and styles):
Madrigals & part songs
•Fair Phyliss I Saw Sitting — John Farmer
• Il est bel et bon — Pierre Passereau
• In My Garden — John Rutter (written for St. Charles Singers)
• Spin Me a Web, Spider — John Rutter (written for St. Charles Singers)
Contemporary gems
• The Evening Primrose — Benjamin Britten
• Ah, Sun Flower — Jonathan Dove
Folk song settings
• Blow Away the Morning Dew — R.O. Morris
• She’s Like the Swallow — Edward Chapman
• Swansea Town — Gustav Holst
Jazz & pop
• Who is Sylvia — George Shearing (written for St. Charles Singers)
• Butter Cup Days — Charles Forsberg (written for St. Charles Singers)
• The Longest Time — Billy Joel
American favorites
• I Bought Me a Cat — Aaron Copland
• Unclouded Day — Shawn Kirchner
And then there’s the twist: painter Tina Druce-Hoffman creates live art during the performance, responding to what she hears in real time—so you’re not just attending a concert, you’re watching music turn into color, story, and shape right in front of you.
If you’ve been waiting for one event this season that feels truly “only-at-Rendezvous,” this is it. Three performances. One unforgettable collaboration. Secure your seats now.
